Impossible Machines is a thought experiment about what declarative programming might feel like for the physical world. The paradigm is familiar in software, such as SQL, where you declare the result you want and the execution engine determines how to produce it.
Without access to an actuator, the creator mocked up the concept in software. In this model, you demonstrate the desired effect, and the system works out how to achieve it. The page is shared as an exploratory idea rather than a finished physical product.
