Smart Blur

Smart Blur is a Chrome extension that automatically detects and blurs personally identifiable information (PII) on web pages before display. Unlike regex-based tools, it uses OpenAI's Privacy Filter running locally to identify unstructured PII like names and addresses in plain text, not just formatted data like emails and phone numbers.

The extension processes information directly in your browser using a local AI model, keeping your data private without sending it to external servers. Smart Blur handles the detection gaps of traditional pattern-matching approaches by understanding context.
