Tributary

Tributary identifies who influenced an artist by drawing on the artist's own accounts and critics' writing. For each influence, it pairs one song from the artist with one from the influence, letting listeners directly hear similarities, differences, and how the sound evolved.

The site's background describes a slump in finding new music, with Spotify's Discover Weekly no longer feeling engaging. That prompted the creator to explore the influences of favorite artists to see whether their music would appeal.
